Globetrotter ReThink

Scrap-metal sculpture for Globetrotter ReThink Store, Bonn 2023. Neulant van Exel.

When the previous tenant of the retail space, Conrad Electronic, moved out, Globetrotter took over not only the premises but also most of the inventory. This was either reused or converted into something new. Following this concept the idea was to create a three-dimensional sculpture of the company’s logo – a green bear – made from inventory leftovers as well. Together with the more experienced welder Markus Butkereit I developed a polygonal basic shape, made of square tubes and chose grids, bars and metal boards of shelfs, display clips and hooks, trolley wheels and surveillance cameras to create the surface and details.
